Bollywood actor Imran Khan has posted a picture of his upcoming film I Hate Luv Storys on the micro-blogging site Twitter.

The movie is produced under Karan Johar’s Dharma productions and directed by debutant Punit Malhotra, nephew of designer Manish Malhotra, the movie also stars Sonam Kapoor and Sameer Dattani.

“First look of I Hate Luv Storys,” Imran posted on his Twitter page Monday. The picture shows Imran along with Sonam.

On seeing Imran’s post, singer Shreya Ghosal wrote:

“Oh wow! Both look awesome.”

At the press meet to unveil the first look of My Name is Khan, lead protagonists of the movie SRK and Kajol seemed color coordinated. While Kajol wore a sheer striped Manish Malhotra saree, SRK wore a crisp suit. Director Karan Johar also sported the red and black theme. Like the trio black and red trio?

The entire film industry is in a state of shock. Believe me, I was inundated with calls from reputed film-makers and distributors, all wanting to know one thing: Why didn’t ‘Kurbaan’ fetch an initial?‘Kurbaan’ had everything going in its favour… Karan Johar has.

An impeccable track record as a film-maker. Every film produced by Karan has had a potent start at the ticket window. Saif Ali Khan’s status, after ‘Love Aaj Kal’, has been at an all-time high.  The Saif - Kareena combo had hit headlines since the time they made their relationship public.

The combo looked great.  UTV, the global distributors of ‘Kurbaan’, had promoted the film extensively. Solo release status. ‘Kurbaan’ had no major opposition to contend with. Naturally, everyone expected ‘Kurbaan’ to start with a bang for the above-mentioned five reasons.

But the opening weekend numbers were shockingly low. Despite glowing reviews from critics who matter, ‘Kurbaan’ showed no signs of pick up after a weak Friday. So what went wrong? A section of the industry feels that moviegoers aren’t interested in watching serious/intense stories.

There is a buzz in the B-town’s critics circuit that Kareena Kapoor has given her best performance so far in Karan Johar’s Kurbaan. They are so floored by Bebo’s performance that they predict Bebo will take home the best Actress awards this year.

Reveals an insider, “Kareena was told by a highly respected critic that she was loved in the film and that her performance was fantastic. In fact he even went on to say that he’s a big fan and with Kurbaan he has only become a bigger fan. He went on to wish her well and also hoped that the Numero Uno status always remains with her.”

Reveals a trade analyst, “Audiences are appreciating the film and the chemistry between Saif and Kareena is quite a highlight of the film. Kareena by the looks of it is set to sweep all the awards this year for her performance in Kurbaan. She is better in Kurbaan than she was in Jab We Met.”

Goes on to reveal the analyst, “Performance wise she is Kajol, beauty wise Aishwarya –what more can an actress ask for.”

Talking about Kareena in the film Taran Adarsh adds, “As for Kareena, KURBAAN reiterates one fact yet again. She’s the best in the business. No two opinions on that! Watch her get those emotional sequences right, it’s incredible. Here’s a performance that truly merits the highest praise and admiration, besides fetching her awards and accolades.”

Story
Professor Avantika Ahuja (Kareena Kapoor) from WEBB Institute, New York meets charming Professor Ehsaan Khan during her stay at Delhi. The complete charmer that he is, she is floored by his wit and intelligence. They fall in love and get married to move to New York, where Ehsaan chooses to teach a course on Islam and the Modern World. Soon, Avantika discovers that her creepy neighborhood of Afghani-Pakistani people have links with terrorists and are going to bomb an air craft carrying a UN delegation to Iraq. All hell breaks lose when Avantika discovers that Ehsaan is one of them too. On the side track is Riaz Masood, a young American Muslim journalist who works for WBAC News Network, who loses his love Rehanna Ibrahim (Diya Mirza) in the same aircraft bombing and is seeking a revenge upon her killers. Ehsaan and other terrorists plan an attack on New York subways with as many as six bombings at different stations. Will Avantika and Riaz be able to stop it?

Review
Kurbaan was a well-thought concept by Karan Johar that was developed tactfully into a full screenplay by Rensil D’Silva. All the characters are well etched be it the vulnerable blissful Avantika who gets trapped in a world she can neither accept nor escape, the cold-blooded but suave, charming and deceptive Pakistani terrorist Khalid Anwar aka Professor Ehsaan Khan, the crisp and stern Bhai Jaan (Om Puri), or the obedient wife Nasreen Apa (Kiron Kher) who can also turn into a suicide bomber in the hour of need. All of them wronged by the west and well connected by a common interest – revenge in the interest of Muslim brothers who are suffering in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The realistic treatment of the theme and character gives ample scope for discussion over issues like US’s oil-greedy foreign policy, media’s biased reporting, American attitude towards wars in middle-east and their positive image of their own government. The screenplay is absorbing and offers edge of the seat drama and action in the first half but second half has a few pot holes that could’ve been filled at the expense of the length of the film.

The love story between Kareena and Saif was sensitively handled. Especially the end when the movie ends with an extreme closeup of Kareena’s eyes showing her loss of love, life and reason – marking the ironic reference to Kiron’s dialogue when she said ‘Ehsaan ki aankhein pather hogayi thi’.

This could be Kareena’s best performances where she emoted best with her eyes and expressions. Saif Ali Khan shows apt transition from a charming lover to hard hitting terrorist, Vivek Oberoi puts up a sincere performance and shows again that he can act and act very well in a well written role.

Its one of those films that leave a lump in your throat because of their intensity and impact. Kurbaan, although is criticized for its violence but its emotional depth and sensitivity in treatment makes it India’s  most powerful film on terrorism… on par with Pakistan’s Khuda Ke Liye.

Katrina Kaif replaces Priyanka Chopra in Tarun Mansukhani’s Dostana sequel starring Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham, reports Filmfare. Dostana 2 will be Katrina’s second film with Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, and with co-star John Abraham, after the 2009 release of New York.

Priyanka Chopra and Bobby Deol were shown ending up as a happy couple in Dostana so the gay duo, John and Abhishek, move on to a new girl. The film will additionally star Ritesh Deshmukh and Shreyas Talpade.

The Roshans had already celebrated Hrithik’s mom Pinky Roshan’s birthday on October 22, by having a quiet dinner party at a Juhu restaurant, but this time Hrithik Roshan was in a mood for lavish celebration and he threw a big bash for mom Pinky Roshan’s birthday and all the prominent celebs from the Bollywood fraternity were invited including SRK-Gauri, Saif-Bebo, Shilpa-Raj, Genelia, Sonali, Kunal Kapoor, Farhan Akhtar amongst others. The party went on till wee hours.

However, the celebration turned sour when the neighbours who were not apparently not comfortable with loud music informed police and the police showed up at Hrithik’s 8th floor apartment in Plazzo building in Juhu Vile Parle Development (JVPD) at around 2:15 am.

Well that’s what leggy lass Katrina Kaif says, when she is quizzed about talking to her special friend Salman Khan alleged enemy SRK.

Katrina says, “I fail to understand why people must constantly focus on just one aspect of an event,’’ says Kat. “I’m not complaining because I know that if youare in the eye of the media, it only means that you are important enough to them. However, my bumping into Shah Rukh or spending time with him at an event is just a regular thing. I think people should stop trying to look for controversy in every nook and cranny. All of usare here to work. And we have common functions to attend. Naturally, when we’re under the same roof, we will interact. Why make a fuss? Who wouldn’t want to associate with Shah Rukh or Karan Johar?’’
