Now, Ash has taken up the opportunity to silence her critics and she appeared in a true Indian flavour as the trailer of Mani Ratnam’s bilingual Raavan/Raavanan was screened to the media at the 63rd Cannes Film Festival. The event was attended by the lead stars of the movie, Vikram, Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai who looked stunningly beautiful in her black saree.

Suhasini Mani Ratnam, the film’s co-producer and dialogue writer for the Tamil version, said that the film would help “Us understand the grey parts that all of us have in us…None of us is completely white or black”. She also praised A R Rahman for his work and said, “In fact, the music accentuated picture. Songs have a great role to play. They do take the plot forward.”

Ash was also there for the premiere of Oliver Stone’s latest flick, ‘Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps’, starring Hollywood big shots Shia LaBeouf, Josh Brolin, Carey Mulligan, Charlie Sheen, Michael Douglas and Susan Sarandon on Friday and she wore a stunning pink Gucci gown for the occasion.

The technical awards winners of International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards 2010 have been announced.

Aamir Khan’s 3 Idiots dominated the technical awards section of the IIFA awards, which is scheduled to be held in Sri lanka from June 3 to 5.

3 Idiots beat other films by bagging awards for Best Screenplay, Cinematography, Dialogue, Background Score, Editing, Best Sound Recording, and Sound Re-recording. It was nominated in 14 categories including best film, best actor, best director and best actress.

Seems the problems for Kangana Ranaut-Madhavan starrer “Tannu Weds Mannu” never ceases to end. First it was Kangana’s injury which set the shoot of the film to a halt and now another shooting schedule planned in a mosque in this Punjab town had to be cancelled owing to the protests by the local residents. The shooting had to be cancelled on the orders of Kapurthala deputy commissioner Rajkamal Chaudhary.

A police official reported, “Members of the film unit had started installing the sets inside the mosque Friday night. On seeing this, members of Muslim community gathered outside the mosque and started raising slogans against the administration and the filmmakers. They threatened to interrupt the shooting as it would allegedly affect their religious sentiments.”

The movie is produced by Shailesh Singh and directed by Anand Malhotra. Besides Kangana and Madhavan, the movie also has Jimmy Shergill in an important role.

As the release date for ‘Kites’ comes nearer, the entire industry seems to have their eyes set on the fate of the film. ‘Kites’ will have a grand premiere in New York at Times Square on 16th May and Suzanne Roshan is already there in advance to spend some time shopping out before attending the so very important moment for the Roshans.

Giving her company is SRK’s wife Gauri and old friend Karan Johar. Shahrukh himself will not be able to make it as he is busy with the shoot of ‘Ra 1’ but he made sure that Gauri was there as Roshans are very close to him.

Bollywood actress Vidya Balan, will be honoured with the ‘Smita Patil Memorial’ Award for her “outstanding” contribution to the film industry.

Priyadarshini Academy chairman Nanik Rupani said,

“Vidya Balan is an excellent actress. She is modern yet contemporary and has done decent and powerful roles. Her performance in ‘Paa’ was outstanding. Our jury has chosen her for the Smita Patil Award for her outstanding contribution to the film industry,”.

Priyadarshini Academy is an NGO which is engaged in socio-cultural and educational activities and has been holding the biennial award function since its inception in 1984.

In 2008, Preity Zinta was felicitated with the award. Other celebrities like Yash Chopra, Karisma Kapoor, Urmila Matondkar, Aishwarya Rai, Madhuri Dixit and Kareena Kapoor have also been bestowed with this award.

The ceremony will be held on Sep 19 in Oberoi Hotel, Mumbai.

Barbara Mori’s 12-year-old son Sergio will soon hit the big screen in a Mexican film, with his mommy.
The movie is being produced by Barbara’s production house.

After having shot her first Bollywood movie Kites, the actress now plans to concentrate on her regional films, rather than on Hollywood .

A source reveals that, Sergio is quite excited to face the camera.

“Sergio has been on the movie sets from quite an early age. He is looking forward to shooting with his mom.”

Sergio plays Barbara’s son in the film. The movie is about a single mother finding love, late in her life. It will showcase the mother-son bond between the two.

However, this isn’t the first time Barbara and Sergio will be facing the camera together. The two have previously done a commercial shoot for the global ‘Got Milk’ campaign.

Bollywood’s cutie, Sonam Kapoor, has declared that she will never work with Deepika because of some differences, and she has no qualms about it.

Sonam looks really excited these days about her new look in ‘I Hate Luv Stories’. She also has some more solo projects in her kitty like, ‘Ayesha’ with Abhay Deol, ‘Come on Pappu’ with Akshay Kumar, and ‘Thank You’, again with Akshay Kumar and Abhay Deol.
